Giant Whitetail Deer Hunting with a Crossbow

After years of watching this buck on his game cameras, Stan Ethredge of Philidelphia Mississippi was. able to finally take him with his crossbow.

Ethredge, who has several hundred acres around his home to hunt, has been watching this buck over the past 4 years.

He remembers seeing him as a big 6 pointer. The following year he was able to see him again, but he was still at 6 points.

Another year past and that is when Stan started really noticing abnormalities in the bucks antler growth such as drop tines and stickers.

Last season Ethredge has an encounter with the buck in the field, however, was unable to take a shot.

This season, on opening day, Stan saw him right off the bat. He was still in velvet and had tines and stickers everywhere! It was approaching dark, and Ethredge decided to be patient and try again when conditions were better.

On October 2oth, Stan decided not to go into work and instead try again for the buck. As luck would have it, the buck came with 30 yards of him and he was able to make the kill!

This monster had 36 points and a 16-inch spread. He measured 227⅜ inches according to the Buckmasters scoring system.
